Blessings for Protection, Guidance, and Love
Typically known as the four-way medal, this cross is made up of four spiritual medals in one: the Sacred Heart at the top, St. Joseph on the right, the Miraculous Mary at the bottom, and St. Christopher on the left. Some, truly special ones, like our gorgeous vintage-replica, also include the Holy Sprit as the radiant Dove in the center.
This gorgeous medal is available in both in 18k gold over sterling silver, with an 18" gold fill chain, as shown here, or in sterling silver with an 18" sterling silver chain.
It makes a stunning gift for any Sacrament, but especially for Confirmation, or an adult Baptism.
Meanings of the Medals
The image of the Sacred Heart of Jesus shows Jesus pointing to His exposed heart, which is crowned with a crown of thorns. This is a reminder of the great sacrifice that Christ made for us and His incomparable love. Another image depicts St. Joseph holding the baby Jesus. The image of St. Joseph represents guardianship and protection. St. Joseph is holding his traditional lilies, a sign of chastity and purity. The left side of the cross depicts St. Christopher moving through a stream of running water with the baby Jesus on his shoulder. This medal has three important meanings. First, as Christians, we must always carry the teachings of Jesus with us wherever we go. Secondly, we are called to give a helping hand to those who are in need, for in doing so, it is Christ Himself who we aid. Last but not least, we can ask St. Christopher to intercede for us during our travels. At the bottom of the cross, we will see the Miraculous Medal. This medal represents our Blessed Mother Mary and the many miracles she is prepared to bestow into our life. The center of the cross contains the Radiant Dove. The dove is a symbol of the Holy Spirit and Baptism, as well as Confirmation.
Elevation to Scapular Medal
The inclusion of the symbols on the back, elevate this medal to a Scapular and can replace the traditional scapulars to be worn instead. It is inscribed with the traditional phrase, "I am a Catholic, please call a priest" This is a way to tell others to call upon a priest in the event a wearer is involved in an emergency. It also includes Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, from whom the scapular devotion came. And on the bottom is the Miraculous symbol, which includes the 12 stars representing the 12 Apostles, the intertwined letter "M" of Mary and cross of Christ symbolizing their union And the two hearts: The Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
Sacred Heart of Jesus, I trust in thee.
Our Lady of Grace, pray for us.
St. Joseph, pray for us.
St. Christopher, pray for us.
Holy Spirit, fill us.
Amen.
