Saint Francis of Assisi was praying before the traditional San Damiano cross when he heard his commission from the Lord to rebuild the Church. This crucifix features an image of Our Lady and St. John the Evangelist at either end of the Lord Jesus’s outstretched hands. Contemplate yourself at the foot of the cross with Mary and St. John, the two who most notably never left his side and shared in His passion uniquely with him.
